The Barnhill Quarry re-development project at Chipping Sodbury Quarry has made a significant contribution to the life of Chipping Sodbury and its town center, by provision of a new edge-of-town supermarket, new affordable and sheltered housing, car parking and pedestrian links to the town center. This has taken place on land that was formerly the original Chipping Sodbury quarry, operational from the middle of the 20th century up until the 1980s, but since then left relatively neglected.
