Sand and gravel were extracted at the Tarmac Trading’ site between 1995-2013, and 35 hectares of the land has now been completely restored to a mosaic of lakes, wetlands, islands, wet woodland and agriculture. The land restored into agricultural use has developed a good soil, lake margins were shaped to create habitats particularly to birdlife, partnership were created as well as a permissive footpath with viewing points.
