Marine aggregates
The marine aggregates producers are important suppliers of sand and gravel to coastal markets.
On average, almost 60 million tonnes of marine aggregates are extracted from the sea used for construction and as a strategic material in supplying large scale coast defence and beach replenishment projects. Marine aggregates producers in Europe are equally supplying valuable data in their operation area which is summarised by our members in Sustainability Reports.
Aggregates Europe – UEPG has a dedicated Task Force for marine aggregates addressing maritime spatial planning and the environmental impacts, in particular sea floor integrity, biodiversity and under water noise reported under the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
